Are You Experienced?
Episode Description:
Believers should look beyond their experiences and seek a deeper understanding and spiritual transformation, rather than letting experiences solely define their faith and identity. While society often relies on emotional events to shape personal and cultural narratives, true spiritual growth demands moving past these temporary influences to embrace a more grounded and Godly perspective.
Relying on experiences and emotions can lead to instability, whereas true peace and maturity come from knowing God through His Word and adhering to it, as highlighted in Luke 24 where Jesus, initially unrecognized, walks with his disciples discussing His life and mission. Jesus emphasizes that blessing comes from hearing and keeping God's Word, not through emotional highs, illustrating that understanding and stability are rooted in scriptural truths rather than transient experiences.
Yeshua, after his resurrection, first reproached two disciples for their disbelief and lack of understanding of the prophecies regarding his resurrection, and instead of solely relying on personal experience, he took the time to explain the scriptures starting from Moses to emphasize the importance of scriptural knowledge. These teachings prompted the disciples to recognize Yeshua in the breaking of bread, leading them to return to Jerusalem and testify to the eleven about his resurrection, where he appeared again to reassure them with tangible proof of his physical resurrection.
Yeshua demonstrated His bodily resurrection to His disciples by allowing them to touch Him and eating food, emphasizing the physical aspect of His resurrected body compared to the spiritual form believers will receive, which does not require food. Despite these tangible proofs, Yeshua prioritized teaching the fulfillment of scriptures as the foundation of understanding His resurrection, highlighting the vital role of scripture over mere experiential belief in faith development.
The teaching emphasizes the transformation of believers through the Spirit, which renews their minds and strengthens their spiritual lives, aided by both Old and New Testament scriptures. It underscores the insufficiency of experience alone in sustaining faith, highlighting the necessity of engaging with the Word by the Spirit for true growth.
