Get to Know Heart Of The Matter and Host Shawn McCraney
Heart of the Matter (HOTM) was created in 2006 by Shawn McCraney as a live call-in television show. Its purpose has always been to challenge the biases and constraints of organized religion while encouraging personal spiritual exploration.
Over the years, HOTM has evolved through various phases, each reflecting Shawn’s growing understanding of faith and fulfilled theology. From exposing the limitations of Mormonism and Evangelical Christianity to exploring the principles of love-centered, subjective Christianity, HOTM has remained steadfast in its mission:
- Challenge Tradition: Question institutional doctrines that hinder spiritual growth.
- Promote Love: Encourage compassion, understanding, and agape love in faith.
- Inspire Change: Motivate viewers to re-examine their beliefs and grow spiritually.
Milestones of HOTM:
- 2006: The first episode airs, focusing on deconstructing Mormonism.
- 2013: HOTM is kicked off of live-television for fear of veering too controversial. Shifts focus to Evangelical Christianity.
- 2019: REDUX introduces a love-centered approach to faith.
- 2024: Full Circle launches (with a billboard!) to emphasize unity and understanding.
- 2025: Radicalized launches.
Along the way:
- 2006 – Present: Tens of thousands come to a true relationship with God outside of their religion.
- 2023: HOTM Network, The Great News Network, is established.
